Obituary of Glenn M. Gardner, Jr.

Glenn found fulfillment living out his purpose of helping people create the life they love. He carried out this purpose through his many roles as a son, brother, husband, dad to two children and “Pops” to his three grandchildren. He enjoyed 37 years of marriage to the love of his life, Sharon, who he affectionately called “Honey”. Known for his wisdom, contagious laugh, and light hearted sense of humor; he brought so much life and love to every gathering. With his genuine caring nature, he had a gift of attracting people and making others feel special. He loved adventurous activities including scuba diving and snow skiing, which allowed him to marvel at God’s beautiful creations.

Glenn attended school at New Orleans Academy, and then Loyola University while he was working as the third-generation real estate broker in the family business. His grandmother, the iconic Mrs. Gertrude Gardner, saw in him the wonderful leadership characteristics she had seen in her late son. In 1979 at the age of 29, Glenn assumed the helm as president of Gertrude Gardner Realtors where he led the Real Estate Family to new levels of success. He received numerous national and local awards honoring him for his leadership as well as charitable contributions to the local community. He had a heart for helping the homeless through The Gertrude Gardner Foundation, which supports The New Orleans Mission.

Glenn is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Sharon Dipaola Gardner; his son, Glenn “Chip” Gardner and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Gardner; his daughter, Crystal Gertrude Gardner-Phillips and son-in-law, James “Chad” Phillips; and grandchildren, Reese Gertrude Phillips, Glenn Parker Gardner, and Hudson Gardner Phillips; and his sister, Gail Gardner Farrell (Thomas C. Farrell III).
