Michael Saunders and Company helps feed hundreds of hurricane victims

It’s been weeks since two devastating hurricanes rocked the Suncoast, but so many homeowners are still trying to recover. With so much work still left to be done, volunteers in the area are trying to make a difference in the lives of hurricane victims.

On Sunday, Michael Saunders and Company worked together with local organization Bring on the Ministry for the meal giveaway. They cooked food at the clubhouse in Sunny Shores, a community located in Cortez.

Bring on the Ministry has been in the neighborhood for over a week, cleaning the community center, offering support to residents, and giving out free food. They also raised thousands of dollars for the community.

For Sunday’s meal giveaway, residents stopped by for meals, they also grabbed some nonperishable food items, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and even free shoes.

“It (the lunch) helps me connect with other people in the community, these folks here in the community are really nice, and the people that are doing the event, God bless them,” said Sunny Shores homeowner, Andy Mooney.

“We are cooking up about 200 meals for the residents,” said Michael Saunders and Company Managing Broker, Tammy Nordling. “There is a huge need for help here, what we’re finding is that a lot of our residents have lost everything,” she said.

Nordling said the company is planning more meal giveaways for other communities in need.
