NP Dodge Company Partners with Sleep in Heavenly Peace for Biggest Bed-building Event in Nebraska

In celebration of its 170th anniversary, NP Dodge Company, America’s oldest and longest-running real estate firm, has rallied its employees and agents to build 170 beds for local children in partnership with the Omaha chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace and FNBO. The event, taking place Friday, September 5, 2025, will be the biggest bed-building event ever held in Nebraska.

“NP Dodge has given back to this community in so many ways over the last 170 years, but this event has special meaning,” said Greg Kreamer, vice president of Dodge Cares, member of the leadership team for the Omaha chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace and a second-generation Realtor® with NP Dodge. “Our mission at NP Dodge has always been to help families and individuals find and create shelter because no child in our community should ever have to sleep on the floor.”

The all-day volunteer event will take place in the parking lot of NP Dodge’s sales office at 8601 W. Dodge Rd., with about 50-60 people building beds at any given time throughout the day. Participants will consist of volunteers from the NP Dodge Family of Companies, FNBO, and Dodge Cares.

“FNBO and NP Dodge share deep roots in greater Omaha and a long tradition of investing in the well-being of our community,” said Patty Gong, Head of Mortgage at FNBO. “This effort reflects our belief that when local partners work together, our entire community benefits. We’re honored to roll up our sleeves alongside NP Dodge and make a lasting impact for local kids.”

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit that builds and delivers handmade, fully furnished beds to children in need. Nationally, SHP has provided safe, comfortable beds to more than 300,000 children. The Omaha chapter, founded in 2018, has built and delivered more than 4,000 beds in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area, but estimates 14,000 more are needed. The local waitlist includes more than 200 approved children at all times still waiting for a bed of their own.

During the event, donations of new twin sheets, standard pillows, comforters, bedspreads and mattresses will be accepted. All completed beds will be stored at SHP’s warehouse before delivery to children across the community.

“We’ve been in the shelter business for 170 years, but knowing that there are children right here in our community without a place to sleep hits home,” said Nate Dodge, CEO and chairperson of NP Dodge Company. “Marking our anniversary by helping meet this need is a privilege, and we hope it inspires others to get involved.”

The event is coordinated by Dodge Cares, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded by NP Dodge residential agents in 2002. Dodge Cares supports nonprofits that provide food, shelter and comfort to those in need across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.
